    Lotus is the sophomore release from indie electronica outfit Valhalla Superdrive. Lotus was produced during winter of 2021 and follows hot on the heals of the January 2021 release of Valhalla Superdrive’s debut LP Birth Light. Laden with animated, sweeping synths, a funkified, distorted low end, ethereal atmospherics, orchestral embellishments and crunchy drums, Lotus delivers heavily rhythmic and decidedly danceable instrumental music that nearly forces you to interact with it. But fair warning – Lotus is NOT techno or house or traditional drum and bass or trance. Lotus seems to defy subgenre classification and forges its own path. Lotus looks to the stars for inspiration and drips of their influence, its intricate timbres and hypnotic grooves conjuring visions of psychedelic alien discotheques. Most of Lotus is set against a minor key backdrop, but peppered in are a powerful handful of bright, heartwarming major key songs that lend a bit of pop flavoring to the album. Lotus offers up a prayer and glimmer of hope that with enough light and enough love, it is possible to overcome the depths of depression through mindful creativity.
